1. New Beginnings, a group that helps unhoused youth, is opening an overnight warming shelter in Lewiston for young adults ages 18 to 24. Twenty-four beds will be open and available to young adults from December 3rd to March 30th. Access to housing services to help connect them with a more permanent living situation will also be available. (WGME)
2. President Joe Biden is spending his birthday today with a low-key family celebration as he gets ready for a strenuous election year ahead. He’ll have 81 candles on the cake. Biden already is the oldest president in history, ahead of Ronald Reagan, who was 77 at the end of his second term. If elected in 2024, Biden would be 86 at the end of his second term. (CNN)
3. Sadie Armstrong, one of the country’s top high school softball players, signed her letter of intent to play d1 softball at Longwood University in Virginia. Armstrong holds the school record at Portland High for home runs and is a standout pitcher. Sadie has a deal with Aroma Joes and created her own nonprofit to provide local kids with more access to the sport. (WGME)
