1. New York Representative George Santos has been voted out of Congress. Santos has been caught up in lies about his qualifications, education, and his family. He couldn’t survive an ethics report that accused him of using campaign funds for trips, shopping, and spa treatments. Santos is the first member of the House to be expelled in two decades. (CNN)
2. The state champion Lewiston High School boys soccer team rang the ceremonial bell atop the lighthouse before kickoff at the Patriots game yesterday. The team also got a chance to meet with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and stay in the stadium’s club seats to take in the game. (WGME)
3. Hundreds hit up Kennebunkport this weekend for the kickoff of the 42nd Annual Christmas Prelude. The festivities run through Dec. 10th. You can catch an additional tree lighting this Friday with fireworks and Santa makes his final appearance via firetruck on Sunday. (PH)
4. The College Football Playoff is set. Michigan and Washington finished as undefeated conference champions and were ranked first and second. One loss Texas and one loss Alabama rounded out the top four teams. Florida State went into Sunday as undefeated ACC Champions, but the committee left the squad out of the playoff. Michigan and Alabama will play in the Rose Bowl and Washington and Texas face off each in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day. Championship game will follow on January 8. (ESPN)
5. It’s National Cookie Day! Select subways across the country will be turning into Cookieway to offer free footlong chocolate chip cookies. New York is the closest location to Maine. However, the footlong cookie will become a permanent part of Subway’s menu starting in 2024. (USAToday)
