1. A Waterville man is accused of making threats online to kill President Joe Biden, Sen. Susan Collins, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and illegal immigrants. The man claims he has tourette syndrome and was just joking. He’s due in court today. (WMTW)
2. The Bates College president is urging deletion of the Blind Tiger app that he said is being used to ‘demean and humiliate’ fellow students. Blind Tiger bills itself as “a must-have app for college students” to “share your thoughts, rate organizations, and promote events all on a private feed for your school.” Occasionally posts will contain full names of students,” often containing false information or perpetuating rumors. 3. Dollar Tree plans to close about 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of this year and 370 Family Dollar and 30 Dollar Tree stores over the next several years. The company declined to say whether any of its 87 stores in Maine will be closed. (PH)
4. The House of Representatives has passed a bipartisan bill that would ban TikTok nationwide. It is unclear whether the measure will pass in the Senate, but President Biden has said he will sign it into law if it reaches his desk. TikTok has more than 150 million users nationwide. (JN)
