1. Portland police have arrested and charged Benjamin Martineau of Portland with 12 crimes, including DV assault, following a car chase that ended along the Maine Turnpike. Police say that they tried to make a traffic stop when they saw a woman frantically waving for help out of a car’s passenger side window. (WMTW)
2. Illegal marijuana grows have been popping up across the state. Versant Power is now suggesting it proactively alert law enforcement to customers using a lot of electricity— instead of waiting for a subpoena. The PUC says it’s still gathering public comments on the issue. (WGME)
3. Mega Millions has swelled to an estimated $875 million for Tuesday night’s drawing. If someone chooses the cash option instead of the annuity, they will receive $413.5 million. No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot since December 2023. (CNN)
4. The University of Maine women’s basketball team won its first America East title since 2019, and with that clinched a berth in the NCAA tournament. The selection committee chose Maine as a 15 seed during Sunday’s selection show and matched the Black Bears up with 2 seed Ohio State University. (WMTW)
5. Hundreds of people decked out in their green gear came out to celebrate the Saint Patrick’s Day parade in Portland on Sunday. Bagpipes, drums, and dozens of Irish dancers including the Sea Dog’s Slugger made their way through the parade route. (WGME)
