It’s been 30 years to the day since Nas dropped what many consider to be the greatest Hip-Hop album of all time in Illmatic, so of course him and his right hand man DJ Premier have to celebrate the momentous occasion. What better way to celebrate than with some new music and the announcement of a long awaited joint album from the two?
The duo have been teasing the idea of a collab album for a little while now, and in 2024 it is finally going to come to fruition. Nasty bars over a Preemo beat, what more could you ask for. There’s no date for the highly anticipated project as of now, but “Define My Name,” which pays homage to 1999’s “Nas Is Like” gives us a glimpse into what we can expect from the 2 later on this year.
