1. French police evacuated the area around the Eiffel Tower after a man was seen climbing the Paris landmark hours before the Olympics closing ceremony Sunday. The shirtless man was seen scaling the 330-meter (1,083-foot) tall tower in the afternoon. It’s unclear where he began his ascent, but he was spotted just above the Olympic rings adorning the second section of the monument, just above the first viewing deck. (ABC)
2. White House moves to make canceling subscriptions and memberships less hellish. The Federal Trade Commission is expected to finalize a proposal known as “click to cancel” as early as Monday, requiring companies to make it just as easy to cancel a subscription or service as it was to sign up. 3. An 80-year-old man from Old Orchard Beach has been found after police issued a Silver Alert. On Sunday, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said the man had been safely located. (NCM)
4. Officials in Kennebunkport saved someone who fell into the river thanks to the help of a police dog. A person fell into the water behind Hurricane Restaurant late Saturday night. The K-9 was able to track the person’s scent and eventually located them on the Kennebunk side of the river. That person was then brought to the hospital for treatment.
5. All-female Sea Dogs broadcast team to commentate Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Tiedemann and Pay have one of only two all-female broadcasting booths in the entire history of professional baseball, and that in itself is an amazing achievement, but the unexpected email they received last week can only be described as a sports broadcaster’s dream. Pay and Tiedemann have been asked to commentate alongside Boston sports announcers at the women’s celebration game. (WGME)
