1. A 19 year old Portland man was arrested Tuesday night and is facing multiple charges in connection with a shooting at the Meadowbrook Apartment Complex that left a 17-year-old seriously injured. (WMTW)
2. Gwen Walz, the wife of Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, will make a second campaign stop in Maine next week. A spokesperson for the Harris-Walz campaign in Maine said she could not provide information Wednesday on the location where Walz will be appearing. Neither Harris nor Trump has visited Maine yet this election cycle. (PH)
3. Maine’s lone 207 area code is projected to last more than two years longer than previously thought, extending through the summer of 2036. The last forecast, made in April, said numbers with the Maine area code would be depleted by the end of 2033. Maine is one of 11 states with one area code. (PH)
4. The chef-owner of The Lost Fire in Kennebunkport will launch another similar Patagonian open-fire concept in Westbrook’s Rock Row next year. Called The Asador Grill by The Lost Fire, the new 7,000-square-foot restaurant will be part of Rock Row’s second phase of development. (PH)
5. The Federal Trade Commission announced steps to make it easier to cancel digital subscriptions. The FTC plans to implement a “final click to cancel rule,” which will make it “as easy for consumers to cancel their enrollment as it was to sign up.” The rule is expected to go into effect in the next six months.
