Since 2018, Maine Needs has been quietly transforming lives across the state! Initially created to support asylum-seeking families, the organization has grown exponentially to address the needs of local families, domestic violence survivors, unhoused individuals, veterans, and others experiencing hardship.
During my recent interview with founder and executive director Angela Stone, the passion and purpose behind Maine Needs’ mission were undeniable. In just four years, they’ve distributed nearly one million essential items to those in need—all at no cost. From body soap and diapers to tents and clothing, their efforts have touched countless lives.
With demand growing faster than ever—they’re receiving an incredible 200 requests every three days—the nonprofit is preparing for its next big step: a massive expansion. Maine Needs is moving from their current 4,000-square-foot space to a 16,000-square-foot facility. This larger space will allow them to store and distribute even more donations, but they need the community’s help to make it a reality!
