3. Maine is the first state in the nation with a text message system that distributes emergency alerts to the public when drug overdoses increase. You can sign up for the alerts by texting the word “Spike” to (855) 963-5669. Alerts are triggered by three reported overdoses in a 24-hour period in a single county. (WGME)
4. Maine set a new record for adult use cannabis sales in June. Retail dispensaries brought in $6.5 million last month. The previous record was set in May at $5.3 million. Revenues have increased every month since adult use sales began in Oct. 2020. (WMTW)
