1. CDC data showed the U.S. almost doubled the pace of initial COVID vaccinations in the last 30 days. On August 5th, the average daily number of doses was just over 441,000. On July 5th, it was just over 226,000. (COMPLEX)

2. The FDA is expected to authorize a third dose of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines as a booster for people with compromised immune systems. (NEWS CENTER)

3. Thomas College in Waterville is the latest Maine college or university of mandate COVID-19 vaccines for students, faculty and staff. Other Maine colleges and universities requiring vaccinations include the University of Maine system, Bates College, Bowdoin College, the University of New England and Husson University.

4. Students attending all Biddeford schools will be required to wear masks when returning to the classroom. (WMTW)

5. Jeopardy! will have two hosts going forward to replace the dearly departed Alex Trebek. The show’s executive producer Mike Richards will be the daily host. Mayim Bialik of The Big Bang Theory fame will host primetime specials and spinoff shows like Jeopardy! National College Championship coming next year. (DEADLINE)
