  1. 19-year-old Trevor Bickford from Wells is accused of attacking members of the NYPD with a machete near Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Two officers were injured. Bickford was shot in the shoulder by a third officer. The FBI reportedly is looking into whether Bickford may have become radicalized online by Islamic extremists. (WGME)


  1. Buffalo defensive back Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit during last night’s MNF.  His heartbeat was restored on the field.  He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition. The game was indefinitely postponed. (WMTW)


  1. Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old criminal justice graduate student was arrested in eastern Pennsylvania on Friday as a suspect in the stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students last month. He is set to appear in court today. (WMTW)


  1. As of Jan. 1, Maine’s minimum wage went up to $13.80 an hour statewide and $14 an hour in the City of Portland. Service employees who work under the “tip wage” will now receive a minimum $6.90 per hour. (WGME)


  1. The annual polar plunge returned in person to Casco Bay, for its 15th year, to raise money for the Natural Resources Council of Maine to mitigate climate change. (WMTW)
