1. Gabby Petito’s cause of death was strangulation according to the coroner’s update yesterday. The time she was killed was 3 to 4 weeks before her remains were found. Brian Laundrie, her former fiance, is the only person of interest publicly identified in connection with her death. He hasn’t been seen since Sept. 13th.

2. Governor Janet Mills is denying a request for an alternative to the health care worker vaccine mandate. CMMC in Lewiston is currently not accepting trauma or pediatric patients. This has some lawmakers pushing for an alternative to the vaccine mandate and adding a testing exemption.

3. Dozens of street and traffic signs that were stolen in Holden were recovered. Police received a report of a truck that slammed into a stop sign on Sunday. An officer then found three men in the truck with the stolen signs. The men could face a year in jail.

4. South Portland has adopted a plan that would require dogs to be on leashes from 7 a.m. to noon at Hinckley Park and noon to 5 p.m. at Willard Beach.

5. The U.S. will reopen its land borders to nonessential travel next month, ending a 19-month freeze due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will allow fully vaccinated foreign nationals to enter the U.S. regardless of the reason for travel starting in early November.
