As we wait for new music from The Weeknd, we can now expect him in a new setting of the entertainment world. The singer is set to make his big-screen debut later this year. Brothers Benny and Josh Safdie, that are both serving as co-directors for the movie Uncut Gems, has cast the Starboy artist alongside Adam Sandler.
The movie is going to be a crime thriller set in NYC’s diamond district. It is an “electrifying crime thriller about Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score.”

The film has other star cast members including former NBA superstar Kevin Garnett, Julia Fox, Idina Menzel, LaKeith Stanfield, Noa Fisher, and more. The movie is set to release on Christmas Day, but it will also eventually find its way to Netflix.
The trailer is not out yet, but it should drop in September. This is such an unlikely pair, but it will be interesting to see how The Weeknd does in front of a camera because he has shown to be mysterious in the past.
