Finally! Since the end of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, the second season of the series that ended in the spring of last year, fans have been awaiting the news of a new season of the award winning show. Luckily, FX just announced what the new season will be about.
FX said that the third season of the franchise will center on the sex scandal that rocked the Bill Clinton presidency. It will be based on Jeffrey Toobin’s bestselling book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President. His 1997 book about O.J. Simpson was used for the first season of the show The People vs. O.J. Simpson.
Impeachment: American Crime Story will most likely explore the overlooked dimensions of the women who found themselves caught up in the scandal and political war that cast a long shadow over the Clinton presidency.

Sarah Paulson stars at Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky, and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones. There is no word yet who will play the Clintons. The project was initially shelved because, according to Murphy, the show couldn’t go on without Monica Lewinsky’s involvement. The Emmy-winning producer got his wish: Lewinsky will serve as a producer on the show.
Last year, Murphy recalled running into Lewinsky at a Hollywood party and telling her: “Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do. If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer, and you should make all the goddamn money.”
Production begins in February with the season premiere set for Sunday, September 27, 2020. That date is about a month before the 2020 Presidential election. This is sure to be another crazy season and we cannot wait until it airs!
