40 MLB players and staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last week. This has complicated the already difficult negotiations between players and owners to resume the 2020 season. Members of the Yankees, Phillies, Angels, Astros Blue Jays and Giants organizations have tested positive. The MLB has ordered all spring training facilities to be closed and cleaned while new protocols are negotiated. The resumption of spring training now will be no earlier than June 29, with the season starting July 26. If the two sides are unable to reach a deal this week, Manfred is expected to simply mandate a season of 54 to 60 games.
