Portland’s own Allagash Brewing Company has another reason to raise a glass! Allagash White, the brewery’s iconic flagship beer, has officially been inducted into the American Craft Beer Hall of Fame.

Allagash White holds a special place in the brewery’s history. It was the very first beer brewed by Allagash founder Rob Tod when he launched the brewery as a one-man operation in Portland back in 1995. More than 30 years later, that original recipe has played a major role in Allagash’s growth and remains the brewery’s most-produced beer.

The Belgian-style wheat beer has also made quite a name for itself beyond Maine. Allagash White is the most-awarded wheat beer in the world and continues to make its mark on American drinking culture. Now, its induction into the American Craft Beer Hall of Fame adds another major accomplishment to its impressive résumé – and gives Mainers another reason to be proud of a beer brewed right here in Portland!

So the next time you crack open an Allagash White, just remember: you’re not just having a beer. You’re drinking a little piece of Maine craft beer history. Cheers to that!
