For today’s If You Can Hear Her, You Can Be Her interview, I spoke with photographer Ruby Jean Photography, who’s known for her fantasy-inspired Fine Art portraiture!
Ruby grew up in a creative household, which helped shape her artistic perspective early on. While she originally began studying psychology in college, she eventually realized her passion for photography and decided to pursue it professionally.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ruby made a major pivot in her career. With weddings slowing down, she shifted her focus to content creation and social media, which ultimately led to viral success on TikTok alongside her grandmother. The unexpected online popularity helped introduce her work to a much wider audience!
One of Ruby’s most meaningful projects is the “Goddess Project,” a photography experience designed specifically for women aged 70 and older. Participants apply to take part in the project, which celebrates beauty, strength, and life experience. She also offers winter studio sessions and group mini-sessions, continuing to create imaginative portrait experiences for her clients!
For aspiring photographers, Ruby emphasized the importance of trusting your intuition and building strong connections through networking. She believes that creativity and community can open doors to unexpected opportunities.
