Grief is a journey no one should have to walk alone. That’s why the Center for Grieving Children exists—to provide a safe, supportive space for children and adults navigating loss, illness, or migration-related challenges. I got to sit down with Kelly and Gretchen from the Center to discuss the impact of their work and how the community can get involved!
The Center’s programs focus on age-based, volunteer-led peer support, ensuring that participants find comfort among those who truly understand their experiences. Volunteers play a vital role in this mission, offering reflective listening and empathy to guide those in need. Gretchen highlighted the importance of these volunteers, noting that they are the heart of the Center’s operations. Those interested in becoming facilitators can undergo training to develop the skills necessary to support grieving individuals.
Beyond its support programs, the Center also brings the community together through events like the upcoming LOVE Gala on February 7th—a night filled with music, dancing, and auctions to raise funds for their vital work. Listen to our interview below to learn more!
If you’re looking to make a difference, consider volunteering or attending the Gala. More details can be found on the Center for Grieving Children’s website. Together, we can help ensure that no one has to face grief alone!
