1. Investors are furious with Robinhood after the company blocked the purchase and trading of GameStop, AMC, and Nokia stocks. A group of Reddit investors helped drive the price of those stocks up tremendously earlier this week. Robinhood’s block has caught the eye of politicians and government officials. 2. The U.S. tops 25.7 million covid-19 cases with over 433,000 deaths. The Maine CDC reported 5 new deaths and 284 new cases on Thursday bringing Maine’s death toll to 567. Nearly 32,000 Mainers have received both doses of their vaccination. (WMTW)
3. Maine will receive a 16% increase in vaccine doses from the federal government next week. Despite the increase, the supply remains limited. Dr. Shah said the shipments expected over the next three weeks will only be enough to vaccinate about 46% of Mainers 70 and older. (WMTW)
4. Governor Janet Mills announced Thursday that she will lift the 9:00 p.m. curfew for businesses on February 1. That mandate will be lifted on Monday due to a decrease in Maine’s COVID-19 rate. (WMTW)
