1. There were 71,135 new coronavirus cases reported in the U.S. on Thursday, the most ever reported in a single day. Arizona’s Maricopa County, and Dallas and San Antonio Texas have both had to bring in refrigerated trailers or portable coolers to store dead bodies, as morgues are full.
2. The U.S. tops 3.5 million coronavirus cases with more than 138,000 dead. The Maine CDC reported 20 new cases on Thursday and no additional deaths. The statewide death toll remains at 114 with 390 active cases.
3. The Maine CDC announced 3 outbreaks in southern Maine. 11 people have tested positive at American Roots in Westbrook, three people have tested positive at Corsetti’s in Westbrook, and three have tested positive at the Goodwill Distribution Center in Gorham. All three facilities have voluntarily closed and are undergoing deep-cleaning.
4. 207 is the only area code in Maine, one of the 11 states that are solo with their three-digit codes. However, the beloved 207 area code is being “exhausted” by large companies and telecom providers which could force the state to create a new one by 2025.
5. Country Time announced a new campaign called The Littlest Bailout Relief Fund. The fund will send “stimulus checks” to children who had to close lemonade stands because of the pandemic. People can enter their kids to possibly win $100.
