1. The U.S. tops 32.9 million covid-19 cases with more than 585,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 192 new cases on Sunday keeping Maine’s death toll at 802 with 121 Mainers hospitalized. More than 47% of Mainers are fully vaccinated. (WMTW)
2. Gov. Janet Mills announced Friday that full vaccinated people will not need to wear face coverings indoors beginning May 24. To be considered fully vaccinated, an individual must be 14 days past their final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Mills said Maine will also lift the physical distancing requirement at indoor public settings (restaurants, bars, etc) (BDN)
3. The Maine Mariners announced the ECHL season is a go for 2021. Their season kicks off at the Cross Insurance Arena Friday, October 22. (NEWS CENTER)
4. More than 20 restaurants in the Portland area will donate $1 of certain dishes or drinks in a week-long campaign to raise funds for STOP AAPI HATE. The organization helps to keep track and report incidents of racism towards Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
