1. The second week of testimony began in the case of former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, charged with the death of George Floyd. The Minneapolis Police Chief said after reviewing all of the video footage, he believes Chauvin’s actions violated MPD’s policies on de-escalation, use of force, and rendering medical aid to a person in custody. 2. The U.S. tops 30.7 million covid-19 cases with more than 555,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported one new death and 223 new cases on Monday bringing Maine’s death toll at 746 with 82 Mainers currently hospitalized. More than 23% of Mainers have received their final covid vaccine dose. (WMTW)

3. Retail pharmacies in Maine will receive a 46% increase of vaccine doses this week through a partnership with the federal government. The state prepares to expand vaccine eligibility to everyone 16 and older beginning Wednesday. (PRESS HERALD)

4. Spectrum says services have been restored in Maine and New Hampshire, following several outages that lasted hours last night. The company says it found two separate fiber breaks in its network, impacting services for customers. (WGME)

5. The Baylor Bears won the men’s college basketball title. Baylor took out undefeated Gonzaga on Monday night. It wasn’t even close. Gonzaga was denied a perfect season and a National Championship at the same time. Stanford held off Arizona to win the women’s title on Sunday. (NBC)
