1. St. Louis, Missouri, lawyers Mark and Patricia McCloskey were charged with one felony count each on Monday. The McCloskey’s famously brandished weapons at Black Lives Matter protesters who were passing by their home last month. Missouri’s Republican Governor Mike Parsons said he’d likely pardon them.
2. The U.S. tops 3.8 million coronavirus cases with more than 140,000 dead. The Maine CDC reported 24 new cases on Monday and no additional deaths. The statewide death toll remains at 117. Maine has 435 active cases, an increase of 13 since Sunday.
3. Buxton town officials closed Pleasant Point Park after the crowds and trash got out of control, but that didn’t stop people from trying to go there over the weekend. Buxton police found 100 people in the park, ignoring the closure.
4. A new movie called ‘The Outpost’ details the heroism of Shapleigh native Captain Ben Keating who died while serving in Afghanistan in 2006. Ben is played by actor Orlando Bloom.
5. Colby, St. Joseph’s, Thomas and the University of Maine at Presque Isle indicated they intend to play sports this fall. All plan to create non conference schedules as conferences across the region have canceled competition this fall.
