1. The Maine CDC reported just 18 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday and for the fourth consecutive day there were no additional COVID-related deaths. 64.8 percent of eligible Mainers are fully vaccinated. (PRESS HERALD)
2. Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib announced on Monday he is gay, becoming the first active player in NFL history to come out. He also donated $100,000 to The Trevor Project, a national group providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. (NEWS CENTER)
3. The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Monday the NCAA can’t limit education-related benefits — like computers and paid internships — that colleges can offer their sports stars. The ruling might open the door for college athletes to get paid for their athletic skill. (PRESS HERALD)
4. Maine’s plastic bag ban takes effect July 1. At most retailers customers will either have to bring their own reusable bags, opt for paper bags with a mandatory 5-cent fee or go without bags altogether. (PRESS HERALD)
5. Sanford native distance runner Rachel Schneider is heading to the 2021 Olympic Games. Schneider placed third in the women’s 5000m race Monday night. (NEWS CENTER)
