1. The Biden administration announced plans Tuesday for a modest increase in COVID-19 vaccine shipments to Maine and other states. CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Hannaford and Shaw’s were included as participants in a federal program to allow eligible Mainers to get vaccinated at local pharmacies. (PRESS HERALD)
2. The U.S. tops 26.4 million covid-19 cases with over 446,000 deaths. The Maine CDC reported 23 new deaths and 417 new cases on Tuesday bringing Maine’s death toll to 618. Over 40,000 Mainers have received both doses of their vaccination. (WMTW)
3. McDonald’s will provide four hours of paid time to crew who receive the covid-19 vaccine. PLAY AUDIO “Vaccination is essential in the fight against the pandemic and we are actively encouraging McDonald’s employees to take this important step,” said a rep from the Golden Arches. (NY POST)
4. The Kraft family gave New England’s governors four tickets each to give to health care workers. Governor Mills chose the four names at random. Joe Looper of Mercy Hospital, Cathy Bean of Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, Lisa Ireland of RiverRidge Center and Patrick Keaney with Mid Coast Hospital will travel on the Patriots team plane for an all-expenses paid trip to the big game. 5. EA Sports announced the return of their college football video game by tweeting “For those who never stopped believing…College football is coming back.” EA last produced the game in 2013. EA has a license to use “FBS schools, traditions, uniforms and playbooks.” There is no official date for the return of the game. (USA TODAY)
