1. There have been 15 armed robberies, in less than a month, across 10 communities in Southern Maine. Wednesday, there were three armed robberies within a matter of only a few hours, the latest happening at the Brunswick Amato’s, and almost all involve a masked man, brandishing a hand gun, matching a similar description. Luckily, in all of these robberies, police say no one has been hurt. While investigators say they don’t have any leads right now, they’re hopeful a tip from the public could help. (WGME)

2. The Maine House has approved the latest bill to regulating recreational marijuana. The new bill will go down the hallway to the Senate today for a vote, and with a big enough majority, it will be out of the hands of the governor to decide its fate from there. Senator Roger Katz says he’s expecting 24 or 25 yes votes from the Senate, more than enough to override any possible veto attempts from the governor. (WGME)

3. 19-year-old Allan Monga is an asylum seeker from Zambia. He has a social security number and a work permit. He is here legally. He’s a Deering High School student and won Maine’s Poetry Out Loud competition. He’s supposed to go on to compete nationally at the end of the month, but he’s not allowed to. The National Endowment for the Arts says Monga can’t compete for a total of $50,000 in scholarships because he isn’t a citizen. Monga filed a federal lawsuit asking a judge to allow him to compete. Portland Public Schools joined the lawsuit, and the Portland law firm Drummond-Woodsum took the case for free. “I just don’t want to stir up any trouble, I just wanna go to Washington D.C just like any other kid from any other state and perform,” Monga said. “And just by doing that, it’ll definitely mean the world to me.” (WGME)
