1. Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster announced a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of John Williams. Cpl. Eugene Cole who was shot to death early Wednesday morning in Norridgewock had been involved just days earlier in arresting the girlfriend of the man now sought in his killing. A massive police manhunt has been underway for Williams since Wednesday morning, involving the FBI and some 200 law enforcement officials who have scoured a number of locations across central Maine. 2. John Williams is a 74-year-old retired mill worker who has lived in Madison his whole life. He has a facebook page to keep in touch w/ family. He’s not the man police are looking for, and his no involvement in the murder of Corporal Eugene Cole of Somerset County. “Nothing to do with it,” he explained. “Never met the [other John Williams] in my life.” He felt pure shock when he turned the news on Wednesday morning. “Oh my God,” he said when he saw his own name on the TV. But it wasn’t him they were looking for – it was a 29-year-old with the same name. He’s received comments on his Facebook page by the hundreds. People wished for him to rot in prison. 3. Bill Cosby’s attorney plans to appeal after the once-beloved comedian was found guilty at retrial on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. Cosby faces 10 years in prison on each count, possibly to be served concurrently. After the verdicts were announced, the Pennsylvania courthouse erupted with emotion. Many women who’ve accused Cosby of sexual misconduct through the years ran into a hallway, hugging each other and crying tears of joy. Cosby’s under house arrest — and eventually GPS monitoring — until his sentencing. (CNN)
4. The Cleveland Browns selected Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield as the #1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft on Thursday night. New England used their two first-round selections to bring in a pair of teammates from the Georgia Bulldogs. At #23 the Patriots selected offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn. At #31 the Patriots selected running back Sony Michel. Michel recorded 1,227 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns w/ the bulldogs last season. (Boston.com)
