1. Gov. Paul LePage on Thursday filed a formal request for federal disaster relief funding to help offset the cost of cleaning up after a major windstorm that blasted Maine in late October. LePage asked President Donald Trump for a federal disaster relief declaration, which would make it possible for the state to receive federal aid to help pay for $4.7 million in public infrastructure damages identified by state and county assessments. 2. A lobster was found with a Pepsi can image on its claw. The lobster was caught by Karissa Lindstrand off the coast of New Brunswick, who says that “it looked like the image was tattooed on the lobster claw.” It’s unclear how the image got embedded there.

3. President Trump and first lady Melania Trump lit up the National Christmas Tree last night. Civilians and the president’s family came together to watch the ceremony. Some noted how the crowd was much smaller than that of President Obama’s final National Tree lighting ceremony. (Twitter)
4. Analyzing data drawn from the Centers for Disease Control, a new Harvard study finds that 57 percent of American children will be obese by the time they’re 35 years old. As UPI notes, 38 percent of Americans over the age of 20 are currently obese. “Obesity is going to be a problem for most kids as they grow older,” Zach Ward, the study’s lead author, told TIME. “We really need to start thinking about really scaling up prevention efforts.” (UPI)
