1. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled nearly 1,200 points on Thursday, triggered by growing anxiety over the coronavirus. It was the worst one-day drop for U.S. stocks since 2011. Northern Light Mercy Hospital announced Thursday that a team of local developers has been selected to convert its 78-year-old hospital building in Portland’s West End neighborhood into range of housing for all income levels. The announcement came two days after Mercy received approval to expand and consolidate all of its operations on its more modern Fore River campus. (PRESS HERALD)

The UMaine College Republicans group that inflamed tensions on campus last fall with a Facebook post condemning Maine’s adoption of Indigenous Peoples Day and later inviting a controversial right-wing speaker can no longer officially claim the “UMaine College Republicans” name.
