1. John Williams, the man accused of killing Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputy Cpl. Eugene Cole, will appear in court for day two of his suppression hearing Friday. Williams’ attorney is working to have his confession thrown out ahead of his trial set for June. 2. Two students from Bonny Eagle are charged with terrorizing after allegedly making threats. School officials credited other students with reporting the incident, which allowed them to bring in police. Investigators say the students could face additional charges and they’ve both been released to the custody of their parents. (WGME)
3. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has pleaded not guilty to two counts of misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution in a Florida case, according to court documents released Thursday. Kraft was among hundreds of men charged in a crackdown on massage parlor prostitution and an investigation into human trafficking at Florida spas. (Press Herald)
4. On Thursday, Gap Inc. announced it’s spinning off Old Navy into a separate, publicly traded company. The rest of Gap Inc.–which includes Banana Republic, Intermix, Athleta, Hill City, and the Gap brand–will stay together under a yet-to-be-announced new company name. The company also announced plans to shutter 230 Gap stores over the next two years. (WGME)
5. JetBlue will give three lucky people free flights for a year if they agree to delete all photos from their Instagram accounts. To enter the contest, people must upload one photo that represents their dream vacation using the hashtag “#AllYouCanJetSweepstakes.” The winners even get to bring along a friend for free, but you’ll still have to pay taxes and luggage fees on all flights.
