1. President Biden announced the U.S. would welcome up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees and provide an additional $1 billion in food, medicine, water and other supplies.
2. Firefighters spent most of yesterday battling a massive fire at the Penobscot McCrum potato processing facility in Belfast. The fire destroyed the building leaving nearly 140 people out of work. Smoke from the fire forced the evacuation of a nearby high school.
3. A trucker was streaming Netflix when his tractor-trailer struck a car, killing a retired couple in Maine, according to an AP report. Geoff and Elizabeth Gattis, of Falmouth were both killed in the Jan. 2021 crash. The driver told a state trooper that he was listening to the audio, but had his phone turned away so he couldn’t watch the video.
4. Instagram has brought back its chronological timeline for users. When you open the IG App, tap “Instagram” at the top left. The toggle-down will give you a choice – Following and Favorites. If you tap “Following,” your feed will give you posts from all the accounts you follow in chronological order. Your home feed will always default to the Instagram algorithm when you open the app.
