1. The storm Tuesday night and Wednesday morning caused significant damage in many communities across Maine. In the New Harbor part of Bristol, several buildings ended up in the water. 2. Republican candidate Chris Christie announced that he will withdraw from the 2024 presidential race as front-runner Donald Trump moves one step closer to the Republican nomination. Christie has not yet endorsed another GOP candidate, but “would be happy to get out of the way for someone who is actually running against Donald Trump.” (JN)
3. In a public hearing yesterday Wabanaki Nation leaders pushed for gaming expansions with three upcoming bills. One would aim to create economic opportunities for the Wabanaki Nations through the use of internet gaming similar to internet sports betting. (NCM)
4. University of Alabama head football coach Nick Saban is retiring, according to ESPN. Since joining the university in 2007, Saban has led the Crimson Tide to six national championship titles. (JN)
5. The owners of Terlingua are launching a brunch restaurant this spring in the former space of The Danforth in Portland’s West End neighborhood. The Texas and Mexican inspired Ocotillo is expected to open in March. (PH)
