1. Testimony from a Maine native who was allegedly a victim of Jeffrey Epstein featured prominently in documents released Wednesday, including a claim that Epstein once told her that former President Bill Clinton liked “young” girls. A lengthy 2016 deposition of Johanna Sjoberg, a Hodgdon native who has said she was hired to provide massages for Epstein, was released. Sjoberg also recounted a time that Epstein wanted to go to Trump’s former casino in Atlantic City. Sjoberg said she had never met nor massaged Clinton or Trump. (WGME)
2. Police in Portland say there has been a recent spike in drug overdoses in the city. In the final week of 2023, police say there were 20 reported overdoses in Portland with three deaths. Police said it is typical to see a spike in numbers during the holiday season. Overall, overdose deaths in Portland dropped slightly in 2023, with 47, compared to 51 in 2022. (WMTW)

4. Bangor is planning to put a single-stall public bathroom downtown and five more in city parks. For years, the lack of facilities forced residents, visitors and especially the city’s homeless community to ask local businesses to use their restrooms or relieve themselves in public. (BDN)
5. Newport Natives, Cooper Flagg and his twin brother Ace return to Maine this weekend for two sold out games. Tonight their Montverde Academy takes on Gonzaga High 7:30pm at the Cross Insurance Arena. Saturday night they’ll face CATS Academy Boston 6pm at the Portland Expo. Cooper is the #1 recruit in the 2024 class and has committed to Duke. He is predicted to be the #1 NBA draft pick in 2025. (PH)
