2. A group of Portland residents rallied at Monday’s city council meeting to protest conditions they say are pushing low-income renters out of the city. The Portland Coalition for Housing Justice demanded that councilors ban no-cause evictions and put a freeze on rent increases. 3. A skimming device was found attached to an ATM at the Kennebunk Savings Bank in Kennebunk, according to police. Police said skimmers have been discovered on ATMs in several other towns, and the current incident remains under investigation. (WMTW)
4. The high-speed ferry known as The Cat slipped into Portland Harbor overnight Monday in advance of its daily round trips to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, starting June 15. The Cat plans trip will take about 5.5 hours to make the crossing from Portland to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. It will leave Yarmouth daily at 8:30 a.m. and depart Portland at 2:30 p.m., at an average one-way price of $107 for adults. (BD)
