1. A man walked into the underground U.S. Capitol Visitor Center on Monday and was shot and wounded by a police after he pointed what appeared to be a weapon at officers. A female bystander also suffered wounds and was taken to the hospital. (BD)

3. A group in Gray is taking the next step to secede from the town. They had a meeting Monday night to discuss the secession process and start collecting petition signatures. Some people who live on the west side of Little Sebago Lake say they’d rather be part of Raymond. They already have to drive through that town to get to the rest of Gray, and services like EMS and fire come from Raymond. “I’ve never really identified with Gray,” resident Elizabeth Metayer said. “Raymond is our community.
