1.More than 200 people were killed and hundreds injured after nine separate bombings occurred in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. The bombings took place in churches and hotels near the capital city of Colombo. It’s the deadliest attack the country has seen since a civil war ended there a decade ago. (AP)
2. Biddeford police said a 42-year-old man was struck and killed Sunday afternoon by a southbound Amtrak Downeaster train. There were 83 passengers on board the train when it hit the man, who was walking on railroad tracks between Westmore Avenue and Pomerleau Street in Biddeford. The accident took place at 4:02 p.m. and the train was not released from the scene until 7 p.m. (Press Herald)
3. Two more Stephen King projects are being adapted for the screen, both announced last week. “Sleeping Beauties,” the 2017 novel co-written by King and his son, Owen King, will be developed into a TV series by AMC. On Thursday, it was announced by Deadline that “Rest Stop,” a short story written by Stephen King that was first published in the December 2003 issue of Esquire magazine, will be adapted into a film.
