1. The Domino’s Pizza at 621 Lower Main Street in Gorham was the target of the eleventh armed robbery in the Greater Portland area in the last month. This incident comes a day after the Gulf Mart in Westbrook was robbed at gunpoint on Friday. Since March 20th, 11 armed robberies or attempted armed robberies have taken place in Greater Portland, with one happening in Old Orchard Beach. Police are still unable to confirm if all of them are connected, but do say the robberies are similar in nature. (NewsCenterMaine)
2. For the second year in a row, President Trump has decided to skip the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The official news follows a radio interview Trump gave this week in which he said about the dinner, “[I] probably won’t do it…I want to get it straightened out with the press before I do it.” Last year, Trump became the first president to skip the laugh-filled affair since Ronald Reagan missed it because he was recovering from his assassination attempt. Trump’s political career famously kicked into high gear after he was ruthlessly mocked by Seth Meyers and then-President Barack Obama at the 2011 dinner. (AP News)
3. A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip will serve as co-teacher for an upcoming New York University course about the connection between hip-hop and jazz. According to NYU, Q-Tip will join music historian Ashley Kahn to teach students “about the intersections and parallel developments of these musical styles.” (Rolling Stone)
4. A viral video that may have given you a laugh sparked outrage from a Florida family whose child is featured in the video. The video shows a little girl screaming as an adult dressed as the Easter Bunny enters the room of a daycare. The family of the little girl says they had no idea about the video being shared until it went viral. Not only are they angry the 2-year-old is terrified and no one is helping, the child’s mother filled out a form prior to the incident that stated she did not wish for her child to be photographed at the daycare.
