1. Maine hospitalizations from COVID-19 dropped slightly Sunday to 330, the lowest number the state has seen in more than a month. The decline is considered a sign the omicron surge might be subsiding.
2. The Portland City Council will review the city’s indoor mask mandate today and consider whether to extend it. The council will also consider a proposal to institute hazard pay whenever a city public face-covering mandate is in effect.
3. Kamila Valieva became the first woman to land a quad in the Olympics. The Russians won gold in the team event at the Beijing Games on Monday. The U.S. earned the silver after back-to-back bronze medals at the past two Olympics.
4. It’s “207” day! Named after Maine’s area code, 207 day was created by several organizations including Portland Downtown. To celebrate a scavenger hunt was created to explore local businesses and Portland.
