1. The man suspected of killing Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputy Cpl. Eugene Cole last week has been charged with “intentional and knowing murder.” John Williams entered a no plea to the charge and a hearing on bail will be held at a future date, although the temporary release appears highly unlikely. The judge ordered a forensic mental health evaluation of Williams and a change of venue to Cumberland County, presumably to increase chances of an impartial jury. (NCM)

2. Police are looking for the person who set two portable toilets on fire in an Old Orchard Beach park. A surveillance video in the area showed the suspect starting the fires and running away, police said. The suspect is described as a white man about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 180 pounds. He had a shaved head and was wearing a desert camouflage jacket. (CNN)

3. Terry Rozier scored 29 points and first-year Celtics forward Jayson Tatum scored 28 to outplay redshirt rookie Ben Simmons and lead the Boston Celtics to a 117-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Monday night. Game 2 is Thursday night in Boston. (Boston)

4. May Day. This celebration is an ancient northern hemisphere spring festival best known for its traditions of dancing around the maypole and crowning the Queen of May. (USAToday)
