1. The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing Thursday for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, a woman who says he sexually assaulted her as a teenager, as a claim of sexual misconduct emerged from another woman. The New Yorker magazine reported Sunday night that Senate Democrats were investigating a second woman’s accusation of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh dating to the 1983-84 academic year, Kavanaugh’s first at Yale University. The New Yorker said 53-year-old Deborah Ramirez described the incident in an interview after being contacted by the magazine. (Press Herald)

2. Matt Patricia beat mentor Bill Belichick, seemingly making all the right moves to help the Detroit Lions beat the New England Patriots 26-10 Sunday night. The Patriots (1-2) have had weaknesses exposed on both sides of the ball, losing two of their first three games for the first time since 2012. (Press Herald)

3. Marijuana is legal in Maine, but is it kosher to give to lobsters before cooking and serving them? Not if you’re a restaurant, Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services tells The New York Times. This news totally harshed the mellow of Charlotte Gill, who wants to serve stoned lobster to her customers at Charlotte’s Legendary Lobster Pound. She’s been experimenting with the technique, which she claims eases lobsters’ pain before they’re murdered via vats of boiling water, on her staff and family, who say that traces of marijuana have yet to turn up in their urine. But Gill says she received notice from Maine’s health department on Thursday informing her that the weed “is supposed to be used only for myself and not a lobster.” (NY Times)

4. Tiger Woods fought back tears after winning his first PGA tournament in five years on Sunday in Atlanta, beating Bill Horschel by two strokes in the Tour Championship after surging to a comfortable lead with five consecutive birdies on Saturday. “I loved every bit of it,” Woods told The Golf Channel afterwards. The win was Woods’ 80th in the 42-year-old’s storied career, which had been derailed in recent years by multiple back surgeries, marital infidelity and an arrest for impaired driving. “I never dreamed @TigerWoods could come back and swing the way he has after surgery,” tweeted golf legend Jack Nickalus. “I think you could argue he’s swinging better than he has ever in his life. He has played fantastically!” Added rival Phil Mickelson, “He’s played such good golf all year that it’s just not surprising…I’ve seen the way he’s been swinging the club and the way he’s been playing. We all knew it was just a matter of time.” (ESPN)

5. Despite spending a whole bunch of money on gym memberships, why do people still make up lame excuses to avoid exercising? According to a new University of British Columbia study, it’s all about people’s brains. As lead researcher Matthieu Boisgontier tells The Washington Post, your brain wants you to be sedentary in order to conserve energy. Hence, even though people know exercise is good for them, their brains work hard to counteract that urge–which explains why some people take the elevator instead of the stairs once they get to the gym, provided they even make it that far. (Washington Post)
