1. Gov. Janet Mills activated the Maine National Guard on Wednesday to help hospitals straining to care for a flood of mostly unvaccinated COVID-19 patients. 2. Pfizer said Wednesday that a booster of its COVID-19 vaccine may offer important protection against the new omicron variant.
