1. 45-year-old Christopher Maurer, formerly of Biddeford was arrested yesterday in Westbrook for allegedly taking part in the January 6 Capitol attack. Maurer was identified as an individual who swung a large pole at police officers. (WGME)

2. Portland has hired its first director of racial equity, Umaru Balde. He speaks numerous languages and has held civil rights posts in Iowa. Balde will promote equity and inclusion in city work and work to ensure compliance with civil rights laws. (PH)

4. Rivalries sports bar has closed its Portland location after more than 20 years in business.  The space is being taken over by a Bar Harbor chef who plans to open a gastropub in its place. (PH)
