1. President Trump said Wednesday night that he is postponing his State of the Union address until the partial government shutdown ends, yielding after a weeklong showdown with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. 2. Ride-hailing apps are an easy way to get you where you need to go–as long as you’re sober enough to know where you’re going. The Associated Press reports a drunken man got himself in a bit of a sticky situation early Saturday when he took the wrong Lyft to the wrong house. First, the Falmouth man accidentally got into a Lyft vehicle that had actually been ordered by his next door neighbor. Then, when the driver dropped him off, the man stumbled to a house that he thought was his own, but it was not. The homeowner called the Cape Elizabeth Police, who took the intoxicated man back to the station to sober up. Police Chief Paul Fenton said the man is very sorry and the homeowner did not press charges. (AP News)

A nurse who was supposed to be looking after an incapacitated woman at a long-term health care facility was charged Wednesday with raping her, weeks after she stunned her caregivers and her family by giving birth to a baby boy. “We owed this arrest to the victim. We owed this arrest to the newest member of our community — that innocent baby,” Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams said. (Press Herald)

5. McDonald’s is hosting a “Bacon Hour” next week when customers can add thick-cut, applewood-smoked bacon to any menu item for free. The deal will be available next Tuesday, January 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. local time. The deal celebrates the chain’s new Big Mac Bacon, Quarter Pounder Bacon and Cheesy Bacon Fries, which all debut January 30. (People)
