- Trevor Bickford (19 from Wells) was arraigned at a New York City hospital yesterday, facing attempted murder charges for allegedly attacking 3 NYPD officers on NYE. Documents state that Bickford said “I wanted to kill an officer in uniform. I said Allahu akbar. I walked up and hit him over the head with a kukri. I charged another officer but dropped the knife and I tried to get the police officer’s gun but couldn’t.” (PH)
- The group “Concerned Hermon School District Community Members” wants a rating system for age-appropriate content in the district. The parents will be asking the school committee Monday about more than 80 books they say contain sexually explicit material. (WMTW)
- Yesterday afternoon, the Buffalo Bills tweeted, “Damar (Hamlin) remains in the ICU in critical condition with signs of improvement noted yesterday and overnight. He is expected to remain under intensive care as his health care team continues to monitor and treat him.” Hamlin’s Chasing M Foundation GoFundMe page has received over $7 million in donations. The Hamlin family updated the page, thanking donors for their “generosity and compassion,” saying “it means the world to us.” (Twitter)
- The Mutual UFO Network and The National UFO Reporting Center reported 59 UFO sightings in Maine in 2022, down from 73 in 2021 and 98 sightings in 2020. UFO author Norman Slevik says “There’s a lot of sightings that are happening in Maine that are going unreported through official means… if you look on social media, you’ll find that they are way up.” (WGME)
