1. The U.S. Marshals Service announced the arrest of 35-year-old Raymond Lester of Portland in Cancun, Mexico. Lester is suspected of killing his girlfriend in a hit-and-run at Acadia National Park.
2. Dead and dying seals continue to wash up along the coast in alarming numbers. More than 150 seals have washed ashore over the past month. The federal government is now declaring it an “unusual mortality event.”
3. The Mega Millions cash prize is up to $630 million after no one matched all six numbers on Wednesday night. The next drawing is Friday (July 22nd).
4. There’s a new mural at the corner of Brown and Free streets in downtown Portland encouraging people to shop locally. Portland Downtown says it’s to discourage graffiti and promote small businesses in the area.
