1. Police officers and a prosecutor have been accused of covering up a massive multi-million-dollar drug operation. The criminal complaint claims Franklin County Deputies tipped off the operators of the drug business about federal investigations. Several officials are also accused of destroying electronic evidence. Rangeley Town Selectman David Burgess is also accused of accepting tens of thousands of dollars in cash from the alleged leader of the drug operation.
2. The CDC reported 620 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday and seven additional deaths. The seven-day case average has fluctuated somewhat but is largely unchanged from this time last month, about 460 cases each day.
3. The state estimates that 535,000 people who worked during the early days of the pandemic will receive a check for about $275. Individuals who had an adjusted gross income of less than $75,000 in 2020 are eligible.
4. The Mariners signed South Portland goalie Jon Gillies to a contract. The Maine Mariners will open up a 5 game homestand this Friday against the Three Rivers Lions.
5. Chick-fil-A in Westbrook’s Rock Row officially opened at 6:30AM this morning. People were lined up since 12:30 a.m. Westbrook Police are anticipating heavy traffic in the Rock Row area.
