1. On Monday, FBI agents raided the New York office of President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. Cohen has been in the news recently for personally paying porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 so she wouldn’t divulge details of an alleged affair she had with Trump. The New York Times reports that “Cohen has cooperated with authorities and turned over thousands of documents to congressional investigators looking into Russian election meddling.” Cohen’s payment to Daniels is “only one of many topics being investigated,” added a person briefed on the search. 2. Police have charged Nathan Allen of Portland with the robbery Saturday night of Domino’s Pizza on Main Street in Gorham, but the suspect has not been connected to a string of armed robberies around Greater Portland in recent weeks. (PH)
3. The Maine Mariners will begin play in the ECHL this fall as an affiliate of the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers. Portland’s new minor league professional hockey team made the announcement Monday. The Rangers’ top affiliate is the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. The ECHL is a rung below the AHL on the minor-league ladder. (PH)
4. Otto, the popular Maine pizzeria, is continuing to expand with plans to open a restaurant in Saco in June that will be its seventh location in Maine and 13th eatery overall. The new, 80-seat location at 779 Portland Road will be one of Otto’s biggest restaurants, and is expected to be one of its busiest. The new spot, adjacent to the Cinemagic and IMAX theaters and just across from Funtown Splashtown USA, was previously a Ground Round restaurant. Company spokesman Eric Shepherd said if all goes according to plan, the restaurant will open sometime in June. (PH)
