1. Max Linn, who ran as an Independent for U.S. Senate in Maine in 2020, has died after apparently suffering a heart attack. In one Senate debate, he shouted down a moderator who asked him a question by responding, “Request denied!”
2. Governor Mills announced that members of the Maine National Guard will deploy to 10 health care facilities across the state this week to help relieve hospitals experiencing capacity challenges. As of Monday, there are 378 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Maine, the majority of which are not vaccinated.
3. The omicron variant of COVID-19 has been detected for the first time in a New Hampshire resident. Officials said the resident was fully vaccinated but not yet boosted. They said the resident had a mild illness and has since recovered during home isolation.
4. Alleged threats over Zoom during a RSU 10 school board meeting at Mountain Valley High School Monday has prompted school to be cancelled throughout the district today. Out of caution, the varsity basketball game between Mountain Valley High School and Spruce Mountain was abruptly stopped in the fourth quarter, and all in attendance were sent home.
