1. The Portland City Council passed a mask mandate for indoor businesses and public buildings. It will take effect Wednesday. Businesses have the option of forgoing the mandate by requiring COVID-19 vaccinations instead.
2. Portland city councilors have voted to repeal the city’s state of emergency. The decision lowers the minimum wage back to $13 an hour from the hazard pay of $19.50. Once it expires next week, the council will have to decide when city hall and other public buildings will reopen to the public.
3. The FDA approved Pfizer’s booster vaccine for people between 12 and 15-years old on Monday. The CDC is expected to give its recommendation later this week.
4. BlackBerry software will no longer “reliably function” starting today. That means no phone calls, texting, or internet surfing, whether you are on a cell phone carrier or Wi-Fi. BlackBerry said, “We thank our many loyal customers and partners over the years.”
5. Little Caesars Hot-N-Ready pizza is seeing a 11% price increase. Since 1997 the pizza had been offered for $5. The newly priced $5.55 pizza will come with 33% more pepperoni.
