1. Skylar!! A blizzard warning was issued early Tuesday as the second nor’easter in a week surges into Maine. Blizzard conditions are possible this afternoon, when snow could fall an inch an hour and winds are expected to gust to 40 mph. The storm will peak this evening. The storm is expected to dump 12 to 18 inches of snow over much of the state just five days after a storm blanketed Portland in 15.7 inches of snow. (Press Herald)
2. The Scarborough school board is offering a compromise to changes in school starting times, as a way to ease tensions in the community. School board members discussed a compromise by scaling back their proposed changes to school starting times. From 8:50 a.m. to 8 a.m. for middle and high school students and from 8 a.m. up to 8:50 a.m. for K-5 students. Earlier in the day, Scarborough High School teachers voted 83-1 that they have no confidence in Superintendent Julie Kukenberger. Kukenberger says she hopes the offer of a compromise will begin the healing process for this community. A vote could come at the board’s meeting on April 5. (WMTW)
3. The manager of the IHOP in Auburn has issued a public apology after reports that one of the servers asked a group of black teenagers to pay up front for their meal. Manager Melvin Escobar said he has spoken with the server and that such an incident will never happen again. He says he does not believe the server’s actions were racially motivated and adds the restaurant has recently had some problems with young patrons walking out without paying for their meals. (WGME)
4. The University of Maine women’s basketball team, making its first NCAA tournament appearance in 14 years, will play the University of Texas in the first round at 6 p.m. Saturday. (Press Herald)
5. Craig Mack, the Long Island rapper hailed as part of the starting foundation of Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment, has died at age 46. Mack, who launched to hip-hop acclaim with the platinum summer hit “Flava in Ya Ear” in 1994, died of heart failure at a hospital near his Walterboro, S.C., home Monday. (NY Daily Times)
